William Howard Taft McKinney was born on July 22, 1914, in Bakersville, North Carolina, his father, Robert Franklin McKinney, was 46 and his mother, Blanche Lelia Byrd, was 29. He served in WWII as a PFC US ARMY. He had three sons and four daughters with Ethel Geraldine Comby between 1947 and 1957. He died on October 18, 1999, in Kingsport, Tennessee, at the age of 85.
