Rev. James Byron Booth a 91 year old Trenton, MO resident, passed away at 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2016 at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, IA.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens of Trenton. A visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home with open visitation beginning at noon Sunday. Memorial donations are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Assembly of God Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.

James Booth was born April 21, 1924 in Cainsville, MO to Byrum and Winnie (Harper) Booth. Jim was the oldest son of eleven that grew up on a farm near Cainsville. He learned how to do everything related to farming in order to help support the family. He joined the Army Air Corp during World War II where he served as a B-17 Crew Chief with the 398th Bomb Group. He married June Rozella Peterson on June 8, 1946 in Sturgis, SD. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2006. He worked on his father-in-law's ranch near Faith, SD and eventually moved to Trenton, MO in 1948 where they joined the Trenton Assembly of God Church and became active members. The couple moved to Waxahachie, TX in 1949 to prepare for the Ministry at Southwestern Bible College where he majored in Theology and minored in Music. He received his License to preach in 1950, Graduated in 1951 and became an Ordained Minister of the Assemblies of God in 1952. After graduation his career began by holding Tent, Street, and Church Revivals, as well as accepting pastorial positions occasionally in various locations. Rev. Booth and June provided music, teaching, and the Gospel Message in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Maine and even in parts of Canada. He also preached weekly sermons on a Sunday morning radio broadcast in Fairbanks, ME which also aired in Quebec and New Brunswick, Canada. He also worked for Boeing during that period of time. Rev. Booth pioneered and directed the building of two new Assembly of God churches in Gallatin and Chillicothe, MO and drove a school bus for 29 years. During the latter years Rev. Booth continued to minister as a substitute or guest speaker and conducted marriages and funerals in northwest Missouri as well as Iowa. Jim's motto was Faith plus Work minus Doubt equals success.

Surviving relatives include his sons, Paul Booth and his wife Aytiimen of of Forshheim, Germany, Randall Booth and his wife Karleen of Marshalltown, IA and James Booth and his wife Cindy of Des Moines, IA, brothers Lawrance Booth of Chillicothe, MO and Harold Booth and his wife Ethel of Trenton, MO, and a sister Margaret Ann Barnett and her husband Elmer of Breckenridge, MO, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, Clifford, Darold and Franklin Booth, two sisters Lucille Rosson and Hazel Tharp, a half-brother Doyle Booth and a half-sister Juanita Lugenbeal.
