Beverly J. (Shover) Weldon

Beverly J. Weldon 1931 - 2008 CHICOPEE - Beverly J. (Shover) Weldon, 76, passed away in the Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, February 23, 2008. Beverly was born in Burlington, VT on November 12, 1931, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Blanche (Brunelle) Shover and has lived in Chicopee for the past 56 years. She had been employed by the city as the Manager of the Willimansett Branch Library for more than 5 years before being named the librarian for Holy Name School where she worked for 12 years before retiring in 1993. She was a communicant of Holy Name Church in Chicopee and was a member of its Rosary Sodality. Beverly served her church as the Soloist and Choir Director for more than 35 years coordinating the music for weekend services as well as all special masses such as weddings and funerals. She retired in 2000. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Raoul R. Weldon, their nine children, Donna Thibodeau and her husband Robert of Sebastian, FL, Barbara Weldon, Sean Weldon and his wife Kirsten, Marykate Casey and her husband James and Erin Hastings and her husband Jay, all of Brimfield, Nancy Benard and her husband Kenneth of Becket, MA, Terrence Weldon and his wife JoAnn of Braintree, Michael Weldon and his wife Jill of Kinderhook, NY and Gregory Weldon and his fiancee Rosemary Scozzafava of Jamaica Plain. Beverly is also survived by her nineteen grandchildren, Robert, David, Daniel and Matthew Thibodeau, Melissa and Clifford Madru, Heather, Joshua and Laura Benard, Hannah and Patrick Weldon, Tiffany, Stephanie and Nicholas Weldon, James and Kimberly Casey, Joshua Weldon and Jeffrey and Joseph Hastings as well as a brother, Kenneth Shover in Connecticut and a sister, Patricia Stitely in California. Beverly's funeral will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 33 South St., Chicopee at 10. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Beverly may be made to Holy Name School, 63 South St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
