Mary Jane was the youngest of three children born to William Albert and Nancy Elizabeth (Guyer) Riley. She married Jack Bruce Rainwater Jr. in 1987 and they had two sons: Daniel Alan and Cody Douglas.

Mrs. Mary Jane Riley Rainwater, 33, died at home February 5, 1997. Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel with Reverend Steve Combs officiating. Burial is in Sharon Memorial Park. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Thursday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel.
Mrs. Rainwater was born in Charlotte and graduated from Garinger High School in 1981. She was a homemaker and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. William A. Riley and her brother, Douglas E. Riley.
Survivors include her husband of nine years, Mr. Jack ''Bruce'' L. Rainwater, Jr.; sons, Daniel A. Rainwater and Cody D. Rainwater all of the home; mother, Ms. Nancy Guyer Riley of Charlotte; brother, Richard A. Riley and wife, Pat, of Concord; grandmother, Mrs. Ollie Riley of Charlotte; in-laws, Jack L. Rainwater, Sr. and Kay Ward Rainwater, both of Charlotte; nieces, Allyson Riley of San Diego, CA, and Tyler Davis of Charlotte; and nephews, Bo and Matt Riley of Concord, NC.
