After graduating from high school Zach joined the U. S. Army, where he served in the Korean War.
Zach married Elva McCullough Freeman on September 9, 1983. They resided in Grand Island. Elva passed away on December 19, 1997.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Nancy Davis, grandson Andrew Miller and step-son, Billy Freeman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Richard Miller of Pleasanton, Mike Miller of St. Paul, and James Miller of Arizona; 13 grandchildren, sister Zora Adams of Florida, and two nieces. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Christine Freeman of Lincoln and Brenda (Brian) Rohnke Sonnenfeld of Aurora; step-grandchildren, Joshua Hafner of Lincoln, Destiney Freeman, Mellisa Addison & son Caden of Grand Island and Brian Addison of Grand Island.
