Born March 14, 1938, he was the son of the late Homer David and Rosa Beck Duke and a veteran of the United States Army. An avid outdoorsman, Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing and metal detecting. When his illness or the weather forced him to remain inside, he enjoyed reading and researching all things Civil War related.
He is survived by his wife Beulah "Beth" Denham Duke of Sycamore; son Bryan Duke of Sycamore; daughter Donna Duke of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother Donald Duke of Dalton; sisters Shirley Wood of Jacksonville, Florida and Patsy Boswell of Clearwater, Florida.
Memorial services were held at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment was private.
While flowers will be appreciated, for those who wish, donations may be made to Sycamore Methodist Church or Hospice of Tift Area.
