Funeral services for Elmer Jacob Young, 61, of 2039 E. Lawrence Ave, who collapsed at the lunch counter in the Illinois Terminal depot about 6 a.m. yesterday and was pronounced dead at 7 a.m. on arrival at St. John's hospital, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bisch Memorial home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Third Presbyterian church. Rev. H.M. Hildebrandt will officiate and burial will be made in Roselawn cemetery.
Coroner W.L. Dragoo said Mr. Young, a dispatcher for the Illinois Terminal railroad, entered the cafe and seated himself at the counter. He collapsed about a minute later. Dragoo said death was apparently due to a heart attack.
Mr. Young had been a dispatcher for the railroad for 30 years.
He was a member of the Third Presbyterian church and the A.F. and A.M. lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; one son, Errett, of Boone, Ia.; five daughters, Miss Marion Young, at home; Mrs. Edward DeCriox, Fraser, Ia.; Miss Dorothy Young, of Leominster, Mass.; and Mrs. Palmer Castomguay, Davenport, Ia.; two brothers, Jessie Young, Decatur, and Ben Young, Edwardsville; and one sister, Mrs. Eve Carlton, of Edwardsville.
