Howard H. Clepper, 99, of 511 North Sixth St., Apollo, died Saturday (Feb. 1, 1986) at 8:20 p.m. in the Georgian Manor Nursing Home, Brackenridge.
Born May 29, 1886, in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Wilson J. and Amanda Uncapher Clepper.
Mr. Clepper lived most of his life in the Apollo area.
He retired in 1951 after 50 years with U.S. Steel, Vandergrift.
Mr. Clepper was a member of the United Methodist Church of Apollo, Hose Co. No. 2 in Apollo since 1902, Armstrong County Fireman's Association, and the Apollo Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Violet B. Cook Stitt Clepper; four sons, Ralph of Sarasot, Fla., Woodward of Lower Burrell, Harold of Cypress, Calif., and Leland of Apollo; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Gibbon of Apollo and Mrs. Millicent Long of Branson, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and four step daughters, Mrs. Herb (Isabelle) Schroeder of Flippin, Ark., Mrs. Phil (Helen) Stitt of Winston-Salem, N.C., Mrs. Clyde (Reatha) Young of Latrobe and Mrs. Thomas (Alleen) Pearson of Hershey.
Besides her parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise E. Clepper, on Sept. 8, 1974; seven brothers; a sister; and a stepson.
Friends will be received today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from noon until the service at 1:30 p.m. in the Schaffer and Rae Funeral Home, 310 S. Second St., Apollo. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Elmer Reamer, assisted by the Rev. Lloyd Bier. Burial will follow in Spring Church Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Church.
