Ed came to Arizona in 1927 as a boy and his family settled in Continental, AZ, below the Santa Rita Mountains. The love of those mountains never left him throughout the rest of his years. Later, he lived at Cortaro before moving to Tucson in 1931. Ed attended school at the State School for the Deaf and Blind and went on to Hemphil Diesel Engineer School in California. He then returned to Arizona and worked for Tucson Gas and Electric Co., for a while. He retired as chief engineer for the Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind. After retirement he continued his work on a private basis. As a young man he worked as a Merchant Policeman and developed an interest in the sport of wrestling and is remembered for matches in the old Tucson Sports Center and elsewhere around the state. Ed will be greatly missed, leaving a legacy of devotion to his family and friends, pride in tradition and wonder at the creation of nature. A man remembered for his good humor, inclination to appreciate the best in everyone and encourage them in good times and bad. He became a life long friend to many seeking unconditional friendship, always ready with support and a sympathetic ear. His hobbies included horses, family camping trips, fishing, boxing matches, building things with his hands and helping others.
