James Dunn was a native of Glasgow, Scotland. He was a youth of sixteen years when he came to America in the British Army at the final stages of the War Of 1812. He was a drummer-boy in the English army. He deserted the Bristish army, lived in Chautauque County, NY, (settling near Sacket's Harbor, N. Y., he there devoted himself to farming for several years), moved to Ohio and then to Wisconsin. His wife, Sally Campbell, was born November 3, 1799, in New York, and died April 1, 1883.  They were both buried in the Hingham Cemetery, where a suitable monument marks their last resting place. Number of children: unknown. Father of Sarah, who married Lemuel Tibbitts.
