Ruby Singleton age 88, of Hamilton departed this life on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Westover Retirement Community. She was born on June 22, 1926, in Estill County, Kentucky, the daughter of Fred and Sadie (Webb) Winkler. The family moved to Hamilton in 1934. Ruby attended Hamilton City Schools and was a 1945 graduate of Hamilton High School. She married Robert Lee (Bob) Singleton on August 21, 1945, who preceded her in death in May 1972. She had been employed as a Claims Clerk for Ohio Casualty Insurance Company for 26 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of West Side Church of Christ and was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed family gatherings and special events with close friends. Ruby also enjoyed travel, including trips to Spain, Hawaii, Florida, New England and the Western United States, as well as gardening, flower arranging, dining, shopping and attending community events. She is survived by a son, Robert Keith (Pamela) Singleton; a daughter, Linda Kaye (Dan) Martin; a brother, Fred, Jr. (Betty) Winkler; a sister, Norma Daneff all of Hamilton; also surviving are four grandchildren, Rob Singleton, Brian Martin, Todd Martin and Sarah Miller; plus great grandchildren, Tristan Singleton, Lilli Martin and Josie Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 27 years, brother, Harold Winkler and grandson, Wesley Andrew Singleton. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 13, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. with Rev. Orville Roach officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12 noon until time of the service. The family expresses its sincere appreciation to the staffs at Westover and Crossroads Hospice for their extraordinary professional care and support.
