Albertina A. (Blue) Chaffee, 93, formerly of Battle Creek, died Saturday, January 09, 1988 at her daughter's home in West Rockport, Maine, after a long illness. She was born in Battle Creek on March 24, 1895, a daughter of Martin E. and Martha (Hoekstra) Blue.

Albertina lived in the Battle Creek area until about 18 months ago, when she moved to Maine. She had worked many years ago at the former Hamilton's Coffee Ranch in Battle Creek. She enjoyed sewing and making clothing for her grandchildren.

Her first husband, Karl C. Asplin, died in 1949, and a second husband, Harold H. Chaffee, died in 1975.

Surviving are daughters, Dorothy Callaway of West Rockport, Maine, and Berneita Kubasiak of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Hainline of Battle Creek.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Farley-Estes Funeral Home. She will be buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek, by her first husband.
