Mr. Joe Bill Neal, 89, of Mt. Airy (Sheltontown Community) passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

He was born in Surry County on August 8, 1926 to the late Eugene & Mattie Rogers Neal.

Mr. Neal was owner and operator of Mt. Airy Building Supply and was a member of Shelton Church of the Brethren.

He proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona Inman Neal, of the home; a daughter, Devra Neal, of Mt. Airy; sons and daughter-in-law: John Neal, Jim Neal, Joe & Kandy Neal, all of Mt. Airy; five grandchildren: David Inscore, Laura Williams, Tyler Neal, Kevin Neal, Kaleb Neal; three great-grandchildren: Landon Williams, Marcus Inscore, Julian Inscore; a sister, Katherine Hicks, of Winston-Salem; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Neal was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Mike Hiatt and the Rev. Dennis Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkman Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral home in Mt. Airy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
