Actor. Played character parts in motion pictures from the early silent era to the early sound era. Perhaps best known for his role in the Richard Barthelmess starrer "Tol'able David" (1921), as Iscar Hatburn, of the murderous Hatburn clan. Among his other films: "The Musketeers of Pig Alley" (1912), "Three Friends" (1913), "A Misappropriated Turkey" (1913), "The Gambler of the West" (1915), "To Hell With the Kaiser!" (1918, as Satan), "Uncle Tom's Cabin" (1918, as Simon Legree), "The Bromley Case" (1920), "Three Miles Out" (1924), "The Arizona Kid" (1930, as Sheriff Jim Andrews), and "Cimarron" (1931). Walter P. Lewis died of myocardial failure due to pyelonephritis (kidney disease) at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital. Walter was survived by his wife, Edna Reid Duff (1888-1951), married in 1912 in Manhattan, and two children: Dorothy Edna (Lewis) McKinley 1914-1980; and Alberta Lucille (Lewis) Willis 1921-1993.
