Alice P. Anthony, 87, of Bourbonnais, passed away March 29, 2016, at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1928, in Chicago, the daughter of Paul and Josephine (Matzl) Weyand. After Paul's death, Josephine married John Birnfield, who helped raise Alice. Alice married Thomas Anthony on Nov. 20, 1948. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 2001.

Alice was a homemaker and also worked at Schreffler Funeral Home as an associate for 10 years. She was a member of Maternity B.V.M Catholic Church in Bourbonnais. She was a former parishioner at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Kankakee, where she taught CCD. She was also a former parishioner of St. George Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, sewing and making fleece baby blankets for St. Mary's Hospital. She was Miss Kankakee, Avon Beach in 1947.

Surviving are her two sons, Thomas (Chris) Anthony, of Kankakee, and Joseph Anthony, of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Paula (William) Burns, of Chicago; daughter-in-law, Amy, of Bourbonnais; three grandchildren, Joey Anthony, Allyson Anthony and Andrew (Karly) Senesac; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Lilian Senesac; two nieces; and a sister, Elizabeth O'Brien, of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; and infant boy and girl.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Alice's memorial service will be on Friday, April 1, 2016, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in Bourbonnais Township. Inurnment will immediately follow in St. George Catholic Cemetery in Bourbonnais Township.

Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
