She was predeceased by a son, Linwood E. King; a sister, Ethel Walker; and three brothers, Curtis Joyner, James Joyner, and Earl Joyner.
Mrs. King, after graduating from I. C. Norcom High School, attended the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a B.S. degree in Nursing. Continuing in her studies, she later attended Norfolk State University.
She had a passion for nursing and was successful in that career for many years having been employed by Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters (CHKD), Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Franklyn King (Deborah) of Virginia Beach and McCoy Evans (Jada) of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Vernice Washington of Brooklyn, NY; a brother, Clinton Joyner of Chesapeake, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
