Donald Neil Shaw, 83, of Wilmington NC and formally of Falls Church, VA, died Wed., Feb. 17, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, Wilmington, NC. He was born Jan. 24, 1933 in Edenton, NC to the late Ruth Jacobsen and Rufus Edgar Shaw. He was preceded in Death by his 1st wife Sally Hardison d. 1999, and his 2nd wife Vicky Heiser Thompson d. 2015 and one sibling, the late Thelma L. Bennett. Don was retired from the Department of Transportation in Washington, DC as a transportation specialist/draftsman. He is survived by his children Michael and Ann; Sister-in-law’s Barbara Hardison and Ann Hulfish (Bill); Niece Linda Lennon Hinz, (Steve); Daughter-in-law Roxanne Thompson; Son-in- law Jim Thompson, Jr.; nine grandchildren; numerous grand nieces and nephews; and many friends. Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed his many retirement years on the links at our city golf course with Penny Brinkley, Bob Williams, John Brackett and his good friend Jim Thompson, Sr., d. 2009. Memorial services will be held at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel on April 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm, internment following at Oleander Gardens Cemetery.
