Charles Bernard Keim was born to Charles L. and Florence L. (Wasson) Keim in Pike Co. near Hull, IL. He had just finished basic training in the Navy and was home on leave. Bernard was last since at 3 AM on October 29, 1947 (age 19). At first the polic thought he was "over the hill". When his uniform was found with three one dollars bills in the pocket, but his wallet with over $50 in it missing as well as his dog tags and his navy hat, foul play was suspected. His navy hat was found later in a different location. His family felt that he was probably at the bottom of the Mississippi River. His body was never found. He was survived by his parents and siblings: Louise Virginia, Pauline, Delbert, and Shirley and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
