Albert is seen living with the Quillen family in the 1920 census and lists his relationship as "ward" to head of household, Morgan Tennessee Quillen [1888-1970]. It has further been suggested that Morgan might be Albert's biological father. This could make sense if one of Marinda's daughters was the mother, but it seems unlikely Albert would be the child of Morgan and Marinda given the 30+ year discrepancy in their ages.
Marinda and Joshua Artis [1856-1910] are seen living apart in the 1900 census, with Joshua's future wife as a member of his household. By the 1910 census, Joshua had married Annie (Gates) Garthee, so it appears unlikely that Joshua would be Albert's father given Albert was born in 1908.
