Ronald Charles Brinkerhoff, 92, of Polk, Ohio (Ashland County) passed away, January 25, 2016 in Metro Health in Cleveland. He was born on June 1, 1923 in New York, NY to the late George and Elsie (nee Rodamaker) Brinkerhoff.

Ron proudly enlisted in the United States Navy during WWII. He served 4 years, 10 months, 1 day as an Aviation Machinists Mate First Class. Ron was a tail gunner during the Battle of Midway during bombing eight on June 7, 1942, the turning point of the war.

He has been an Ashland County resident for 32 years. Ron was a member of the Moose Lodge 1383, V.F.W. 1067, and Harry Higgins Post 88 of the American Legion.

He is survived by one son, Wayne (Maureen) Brinkerhoff of Polk; one daughter, Dale (Raymond) Manley of Blacklick; eleven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his brother, Edgar Brinkerhoff.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home, where the Ashland Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Interment will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post 1067, 125 East Main Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
