He was born June 8, 1930 in Bangor, to Francis "Mickey" E. Fahey and Olevia Newcomb Fahey.

After his early life in Carmel, he grew up in Southwest Harbor. He graduated from Pemetic High School in 1949. He was a basketball star in high school and captained one of Pemetic's championship teams. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954 and was stationed in San Diego. After leaving the Navy, he remained in California and worked for Lockheed for a short time. He then worked for Litton Industries on its LHA guidance system program for a number of years.

While there he met and married Anne Usiak with whom he had two children. They made their home in Canoga Park. In the late 1970s, he was transferred to the Pascagoula Shipyard in Mississippi, later Northrup-Grummond. Following that he moved to the New Orleans area and worked as a financial analyst for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve Department of Energy.

He continued returning to Maine to visit during all those years, and moved back permanently in 2009. Charlie loved the outdoors – skiing, sailing, hiking, canoeing, fishing – and keeping in touch with old friends. He was a member of the Northport Yacht Club and sailed his Soling Airbourne regularly in races until last summer. He skippered a friend's boat seven years in the retired skippers' race and got a trophy for fourth place in his last race in 2009.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, artist and Hollywood actress Myrna Fahey who appeared in "Batman," "Father of the Bride," "Fall of the House of Usher;" and his brother Michael of Florida.

He is survived by his wife Muriel Davisson of Bass Harbor; his daughter Marianne Desyrae Krause Neff of Weaverville, Calif.; his son John Charles Fahey; and ex-wife Anne Usiak Fahey of Clackamas, Ore.; his grandson Jonas Dane Krause of Weaverville; aunt Mavis Weeks and her husband Alan of Carmel; a stepson, Sven Davisson; special friends Nate Bamford and Bill Malay; a very special friend, Bill Lawlor; and numerous cousins.
