Elizabeth Marie (Hawks) Williams passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
Marie was born March 3, 1931 in Fries, Virginia. She was the second of six children of Ernest and Bertha (Funk) Hawks. Following graduation from Fries High School class of 1949, she moved to Richmond, Va. Upon returning to her hometown, she met and married Warren Hicks Williams in 1956. Marie & Hicks moved to Greensboro, NC in early 1959 and raised two children. Marie worked at the former Southern Plastics Inc. for many years. She attended Lankford Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling with the church's Young at Heart Group. Even though she lived in NC most of her life she never stopped calling the Virginia community of Brush Creek "home". We have complete peace knowing she is now at rest in Heaven, her eternal home.
She is survived by son David Williams and wife Lynn, daughter Sue Pierce and husband Steve. One brother Daniel Hawks.
Grandchildren Joshua Williams (CJ), Brittney Newsome (Chris), Brian Hilliard (Dana), Matthew Hilliard (Sara). Great grandchildren Lucas, Jackson, Ella, Gene, Weston, Brex and Olivia
Preceded in death by husband Warren Hicks Williams, sisters Mildred Hackler, Juanita Mobley, brothers Samual Hawks and Ernest Hawks Jr.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Mount Hope Church, 61 Mt. Hope Rd. Fries, VA 24330. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church cemetery fund.
