Paul Doyle Williams

GATE CITY , Va. - Paul (Doyle) Williams, 82, died Thursday ( Oct. 5, 2000 ) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Scott County , Va. on April 1, 1918 , he was a son of the late William Henry Williams and Ethel Bellamy Williams.

Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Co. in 1980 after 34 years of service.

He was a member of Sally's Chapel Baptist Church .

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Conley E. Williams; brothers, Ambers Williams, Alvin Williams, Carl Williams and Willie Williams; sisters, Pat Kerns and Mary Williams.

Surviving are his wife, Edith Falin Williams, Gate City, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Jack Johnson, Church Hill and Daphine and Wayne Winegar, Yuma, Va.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Renda Williams and wife, Gail, Church Hill and Myron Williams, Dothan, Ala.; two granddaughters, Leslie Kilbourne and Falin Williams; four grandsons, Paul Morris Williams, Eric Johnson, Alan and wife, Shanda Winegar and Curtis and wife, Becky Winegar; two great-granddaughters, Marissa Kilbourne and Lauren Winegar; stepgrandsons and wives, Travis and April Martin and Brian and Mary Martin; stepgreat-grandsons, Benjamin Martin, Nathaniel Martin and Cody Reece; four sisters, Pearl Grisby, Leesburg, Fla., Rose Cooper, Colonial Heights, Lola Minnick, Kingsport and Shirley Reed, Tampa, Fla.; and two brothers, Ezra Williams and John Williams, both of Kingsport.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City , Va. , and other times at the residence.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Charles Boone and Elder Eckel Herron officiating.

Music will be by the Davidson Sisters and Junior Smith and Family Tradition.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holston View Cemetery . The family will meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Morris Williams, Eric Johnson, Curtis Winegar, Alan Winegar, Johnny Williams, Danny Williams, and Lowell Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Thompson, J.C. Fraley, Lee Smith, Mike Click, Bill Oney, Milton Woods, Kyle Jennings and Claude Bledsoe.
