Rose Marie Curran of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Manor Care in Pike Creek on Thursday, March 31, 2016.

Rose (aka Ree) was born on February 18, 1927 in Wilmington to the late Marie and Hugh Curran. She graduated from P.S. DuPont High School and Chestnut Hill College. Rose earned her master's degree from University of Pennsylvania. She spent several years in the convent at Sisters of St. Joseph in Chestnut Hill, after which Rose was a dedicated teacher and educator in the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington including principal of St. Catherine of Siena School. Rose was a social studies teacher and department chair at St. Mark's High School from the day the doors opened in 1969 until her retirement in the 1980's. After 'retiring,' she taught at Delaware Tech. She was a member of St. John the Beloved Church where she was lauded as a lector and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a very knowledgeable historian and enjoyed travel, reading and music (especially opera). Rose also loved family get-togethers.

Rose is preceded in death by her brother Hugh Curran and nephew Patrick McGinty. She is survived by her sisters, Therese Curran of Wilmington, Elizabeth LaRocca and her husband, Sebastian of Wilmington and Margaret McGinty and her husband, Robert of Middletown. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Rose M. Mili, Valerie Warburton, Shawn Curran (Terry), Shane Curran and Hugh Curran (Mary).

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 6th at 11:30 AM at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Limestone Road, Wilmington where friends are invited to visitation after 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
