Alice Adams Gates, 67, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 in Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ruth Adams and her husband Lloyd Gates. A long time resident of Conroe and owner of Gates Book Exchange where she loved to read and entertain many authors who visited her store to sign autographs. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Rabel and husband Darrell, Beverly Martin and husband Junior, Mary Gates; sons, Rickey Putman Sr., Woody Gates, William Gates and wife Linda, Michael Gates and wife Wanda, Ricky, Marty, Jerry, John and Troy Gates; step-daughters, Valeeta Connolly and Myra Gates; sisters, Mildred Miller and Marie Gaught and husband Rueben, along with numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at Rosewood Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at Rosewood Memorial Park, Humble with Pastor Rueben Gaught officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Gates, Jason Gates, Randall Gates, Rickey Putman Jr., Tim Schultz, Robert Flowers and Honorary Pallbearers, Jonathan Gates, Tyler Putman and Trent Putman. Services are officiated by Rosewood Funeral Home.
