Haral Banks passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at New Providence Baptist Church with burial in Forsyth City Cemetery. Rev Brian Moore will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.

Haral, the son of the late Robert Edward Banks and Bessie Siggers Banks was born December 17, 1941, in Wadley, Alabama, moving to Forsyth, Georgia at an early age. His brother, Robert Ray Banks and his sister, Julie Ann Banks preceded him in death. He was a 1962 graduate of Mary Persons High School, a veteran of the United States Army from 1962 to 1965, served in Japan and Vietnam. Haral retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Donna Murner Banks of Forsyth; children, Michael (Beth) Banks of Forsyth and Andrea (Rocky) Metz of Lexington, Kentucky; brother, John Banks of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters, Mae Harper of Forsyth, Emily Zellner of Macon, Dinelle Thomas of Gordon, Dorothy Osborn of Jackson and Beth Houston of Bonaire; grandchildren, Brandi and Jordan Banks of Forsyth, Whitney, Morgan, Sierra, and Bailey Metz of Lexington, Kentucky; and close friends, Edgar Miller and Lou Dolan of Louisville, Kentucky.

Flowers are accepted or the family suggests donations to New Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, 2560 High 41 South, Smarr, GA 31086.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
