Douglas R. Bertha Jr., 36, of Curtisville, West Deer Township, died Saturday, April 2, 2016.

He was born Oct. 17, 1979, in McCandless Township, to Douglas R. Bertha Sr. and the late Beth Ann (Taylor) Bertha.

Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert P. Taylor, and paternal grandparents, Robert A. and Frances "Fran" J. (Gazdik) Bertha.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Douglas R. and Terri (Kennedy) Bertha Sr., of Curtisville; sister, Stacey L. Bertha, of Frazer Township; grandmother, Amy E. (Barngrover) Taylor, of West Deer Township; stepbrothers, David Kennedy, of Shaler Township, and Sam Kennedy, of West Deer Township; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Doug lived in West Deer Township for most of his life.

He was a 1997 graduate of Deer Lakes High School.

Doug worked as a carpenter in construction for more than 17 years for various contractors throughout the area.

He was a member of Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Russellton.

He enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports, especially the Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers.

The family met at SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, for a private viewing and service, the Rev. James P. Holland officiating.

Doug will be privately laid to rest next to his mother.
