A funeral service for L.H. Holcomb, age 88, of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 11 o’clock in the morning Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Steve Edwards officiating. He will be laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mr. Holcomb passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Jacksonville.

He was born June 8, 1927 in Concord to Lewis Hill and Era Jane (Martin) Holcomb.

L.H. moved to Jacksonville in 1946.

He was an elder of Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church before becoming a member of Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville for over 45 years. He was an active member of Good Fellows Bible Class during those years.

His passions were antique cars and car shows, spending time with his family on Lake Jacksonville and a love for Century boats.

After working for W.E. Bailey Insurance and then the local Chevrolet dealership, his love for automobiles led him to his life long career as a General Motors dealer for 35 years. He owned G&H Motors, which later merged to become Livezey-Holcomb Autoplex from 1961-1995, before retiring.

He was extremely involved as a community leader serving as President of Lions Club, President of the Chamber of Commerce and twice President of the Jacksonville Rodeo Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joan Holcomb; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise and James Earl McGaughey.

Survivors include his son, Brian Holcomb and wife Julie of Jacksonville; granddaughters, Natalie Williams and husband Heath of Trophy Club, Kourtney Bruno and husband Dominick of Bullard, Ashley Ischy and husband Kyle of Tyler, and Claire Holcomb of Jacksonville; and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Collin Williams, Brantley and Gabriella Bruno.

Pallbearers will be Dominick Bruno, Heath Williams, Kyle Ischy, Joe Ballard, Charles Dickerson, Eddie Arrington, Steve Campbell, and Paul Laney.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sunny Plunk, Britt Bacon, Roland Adams, Larry Durrett, Charles Creed, Mike Mason and members of the Good Fellows Bible Class.

Visitation will begin at 10 o’clock in the morning at Central Baptist Church.
