Mr. Johnson was a native of Greenville, SC, having made North Augusta his home for the past 44 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, a US Army Veteran and a retired Chemical Engineer and Technical Service Manager from International Paper. Mr. Johnson had a great love for the Lord and his family, enjoyed golf, tinkering with automobiles and was a self-taught banjo player.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jean Hamrick Johnson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Julia Johnson, Evans and Roy and Leslie Johnson, North Augusta; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Evelyn and Mark Lewis, North Augusta; six grandchildren, Jason Dukes, Tiffany Ruiz, Amanda Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Katy Lewis and Jenny Lewis; two sisters, Elizabeth Mahon, Greenville, SC, and Lynn Ruffin, Columbia, SC.
