The probating of the will at Baltimore Saturday of Henry R Magruder, son of Gen John Bankhead Magruder of Virginia, who had lived in Rome and Florence since the civil war shows that he entertained a fear of being buried alive. Mr Magruder, who was 68 years old, died recently in Italy. He directed in his will that his body be taken in charge by the American counsel [sic] at Florence, who, after leaving the body in the church for 48 hours, was to cut deep into his leg and arm to make sure that he was dead. A post-mortem was then to be made, after which the body was to be placed in the Allari cemetery. For his trouble the American counsel was to receive $200.
