Daughter of Hosea and Mary Fleming Oliphant, she was widowed, lived at 736 Buffalo St, Franklin (not true per obituary), died at 33 Venango St, Rocky Grove, of uremia due to cardio-renal failure, arteriosclerosis, and pernicious anemia, per death certificate 62280, whose informant was Bernard Brown, RD 1, Franklin. Buried Jul 13 1950.


Per PA Marriage License on Feb 19 1906 in Franklin, Nathaniel R. Brown of Gainsboro, VA, car builder, 21, son of D. F. and Margaret Brown, married Artie Marie Oliphant of Scrubgrass Twp, assistant post mistress, 23, daughter of Hosea and Mary Oliphant; first marriage for both.

Following an illness of three months, Mrs. Artie Marie Brown, 68, widow of N. R. Brown and well known resident of Bleakley Hill, Rocky Grove, died at 2:45 am Tuesday in her home, 33 Venango st. She was born in 1882 in Scrubgrass township, daughter of Mrs. Mary Fleming Oliphant, and the late Hosea Oliphant.


She spent the greater part of her life in Kennerdell but lived for the past 23 years in Franklin and vicinity. For several years she operated a grocery store on Second ave. She attended Rocky Grove Ave. Presbyterian church and was a member of the Wyn-Mor Sunday School class.


Surviving are her mother; two sons, Bernard W. Brown of Franklin, and Ronald W Brown of Monterey, CA; a daughter, Mrs. Martin Beichner, Charleroi; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Robert Spindler, Rocky Grove, Mrs. John L. Humphrey, Clintonville, Mrs. Clarence Shultz, Jamestown, NY, Grover Oliphant, Kennerdell RD 2; and a half-brother, Fred Fleming, Kennerdell RD 2.
