Joy Celesta Bilbrey age 94 of Fries, Virginia passed away Sunday, November 2,2008 at Waddell Nursing Home. Mrs. Bilbrey was born in Virginia on July 16,1914 to Harvey Isaac & Rebecca Mills Sumner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Herschel Bilbrey. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Darlene & Jerry Edwards of Independence, Va.; sons & daughters-in-law Alvin Bilbrey & Wilburn Bilbrey both of Fries, Va.;
Harry & Peggy Bilbrey of Stokesdale, N.C.; Garold & Belinda Bilbrey, Herschel Bilbrey Jr., all of Galax, Va.; Ravin Bilbrey of Independence, Va.; brother John Sumner of Hawaii; special nephew Robert Lazare; eighteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00 pm in Mt. Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Blevins and Steve Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church.
