Shirley is the daughter of James and Edith Roush.

She grew up on a farm outside Butte in Boyd County, Nebraska.

A fourth generation Nebraskan, she loved everything about the state. She taught in a rural one-room school house before moving to Lincoln where she worked in the Agronomy Department at UNL.

Shirley married her hometown sweetheart, Captain Don Clifton on October, 18-1945 when he returned from WWII. They went on to raise 4 children.

She loved animals, especially her many grand dogs. She always had a crossword puzzle or was playing scrabble or reading. Shirley was an avid internet user from Facebook to email, and enjoyed her friends and the team at Legacy Estates. Some of her greatest joys were watching Husker volleyball and football and being with her kids.

One of the state's largest Husker fans will now have the best seat in the house.

Her survivors are:

Children: Connie Rath, Jim (Susan)Clifton, Mary (Matt)Reckmeyer, and Jane (Ed) Miller.

Grandchildren: Nicole Clifton, Tom (Ashley) Rath, Jon Clifton, Mark Reckmeyer, Jackie Clifton (Joe)Daly, Lauren (Matt)Reckmeyer Havens, Andy Reckmeyer, Meredith Miller, Mike Reckmeyer

Great grandchildren: Max Clifton, Harper Rath, Everette Rath, and Joe Daly.
