Charlene Evelyn Carter was born February 11, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and attended its elementary school, graduating in 1959. She was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School where she was Circulation Manager for the Hatchet yearbook staff, Student Council Representative, a "WASHINGTON" Banner Girl and a member of the Quill and Scroll National Honor Society

From 1964 to 1972 she was an airline hostess for Braniff Airways. In 1978 Charlene moved to Santa Barbara, California, where she made her home until moving to Ventura in 1989. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Ventura.

Charlene passed away on Monday, July 2, 1993, at her home in Ventura following a long illness. Her parents preceded her in death. She was survived by her brother, William Carter, of Lenexa. Memorial services were held at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Cremation arrangements under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home. Memorials were suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
