Lena G. Hull, 91, of Washington, formerly of Claysville, died at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township, after being in failing health for the past year.

She was born September 8, 1917, in Aleppo Township, a daughter of Oscar Cumpston and Bertha Elizabeth McCann Murray, and had resided in Claysville from 1967 until moving to Washington in 1997.

Mrs. Hull was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church, South Strabane Township, and a former member of Claysville United Presbyterian Church.

She was a graduate of the former Richhill Township High School in Wind Ridge.

Mrs. Hull was a member and past worthy matron of Order of Evening Star Chapter 187, Claysville, and Claysville Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed reading, quilting, playing card games, gardening, raising flowers and entertaining her grandchildren.

On August 20, 1940, she married Clair William "Red" Hull, who died June 11, 1984.

Surviving are two daughters, two sons, a sister, 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are five sisters, Wretha Polen, Ruth Hull, Helen Jordan, Mildred Minton and Mabel Jordan; and two brothers, Rex Murray and Wilber Todd "Moe" Murray.
