LaRue Ahrenholz, 77, of New Hartford, Iowa, died on April 20, 2015, following an automobile accident in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
LaRue was born on March 15, 1938, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Irene Grace (Piegors) and Werner F. Westendorf in Waterloo, Iowa. She was raised in Waterloo, and graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1956.
In January of 1977, La Rue was united in marriage to Andrew Ahrenholz in Waterloo, Iowa. LaRue was a homemaker, and also wrote for the Parkersburg Eclipse. Her column was called, "The Beaver Grove Happenings."
LaRue was an active and faithful member of the New Hartford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed sharing Sunday dinner with family.
LaRue's memory is honored by her husband, Andrew; six sons, Tim (Dorthy) Woods of New Hartford, Iowa, Terry Woods of Waterloo, Iowa, Ted (Cindy) Woods of Dunkerton, Iowa, Tom (Terri) Woods of Little Rock, Arkansas, Tony (Janet) Woods of Waterloo, Iowa, and Adam (Hannah) Ahrenholz of New Hartford, Iowa; one daughter, Tammy Woods of New Hartford; one step-daughter, Deb Ahrenholz of Waterloo, Iowa; one step-son, Doug (Viola) Ahrenholz, of New Hartford, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a stillborn brother.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 9 to 11 am at New Hartford United Methodist Church in New Hartford, Iowa. The funeral service will be at 11am, at the church on Friday, with Pastor Jerry Alise-Rouse officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.
