Elizabeth "Betty" Chapman, age 75 of Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids.

Born on August 15, 1940, she was the daughter of Czar & Mary (Traxler) Blackmer, both of whom have preceded her in death as well as her husband, Ralph; one sister, Mary Louise Blackmer and one brother, Jerry Tompkins.

Betty is survived by her three daughters, Tammy (Kim) Powell of Ogden, Utah, Lacie (John) Griffin of Leesburg, Florida, Julie (Paul) Jakeway of Greenville; one brother, Mike (Trudy) Blackmer of Lansing; two grandchildren, Tonia (Jesse) Thomas and Ariana Griffin, all of Leesburg, Florida; an adopted granddaughter, Amy Erickson of Tacoma, Washington; one great grandson, Preston Thomas of Leesburg, Florida; one adopted great granddaughter, Noelle Edlin of Tacoma, Washington; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Felts of Virginia, Andrea (A.R.) Hodges of Virginia and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Betty was a life member of the Eastern Stars and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Greenville. In her younger days, Betty enjoyed bowling, camping and was a very good cook. After her retirement from Electrolux, Betty liked going to Florida for the winter and traveling with Ralph. Betty also liked to sing, especially in the car on their yearly family vacations and really liked watching NFL Football. She loved her family, especially her great grandson Preston, who held a special place in her heart and she will be missed by everyone.

Visitation with Betty's family is being held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

Memorial services for Betty are being held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with Father John Kirkman officiating. Final inurnment will be next to her husband Ralph at the Evergreen Cemetery in Sheridan.

For those wanting to make a memorial donation in Betty's memory the family suggests donations be made to the Eastern Stars and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
