Mr. Teter was born August 6, 1934, at Parsons, a son of Susie Long Teter of Mathews, Va., and the late John C. Teter.
He was married for 43 years to Jennie Varner Teter, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Lewis Teter and wife, Cheryl Teter, Pierpont, Ohio, Johnie Wayne Teter, Sheffield Village, Ohio; seven brothers, Thomas Teter, Dry Fork, Andrew Teter, Mathews, Va., Ralph, Paul and James and Robert Teter, all of Elyria, Ohio, and Ray Teter, Wellington, Ohio; three sisters, June Davis, Parsons, Janet Sayre Ripley and Bonnie Childers, Red Creek; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Teter; two brothers, John Teter, Jr., and William Teter; and one sister, Naomi Smallwood.
Mr. Teter was a self-employed truck driver for 29 years.
He worked for 13 years at U.S. Steel Mill in Lorain, Ohio and was also a construction worker for 8 years.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
He attended Elyria Baptist Church.
Friends may call at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating.
Interment will follow in Crossroads Cemetery at Tacy.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
