Donald Lawrence Haggerty was born in Marshall, Texas on July 4, 1912 to Joseph Paul Haggerty (1889-1973) and Isabel Lewis (1889-1958). He was born 'on the road' while his parents were doing stage and stock shows across the U.S. His family settled in Los Angeles in the 1920s. He had an older brother, Joe, and a younger sister, Kathleen. In the 1940s Donald became an insurance saleman and married Eva Hiller Twidwell, a divorcée whom he met on a voyage to Hawaii. They had at least one son. They divorced in the late 1950s. Donald eventually settled in Ventura County and lived in Oxnard and Carpenteria. He died on April 23, 2002. He was cremated and his ashed scatted in the Pacific Ocean.
