Ernest R. "Buddy" Bair Jr., of Orangeburg, SC, passed away, Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Ernest was the husband of Margaret Fanning Bair, and they enjoyed over 57 years of marriage together.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Lebanon United Methodist Church, near Neeses, SC, with the Reverend Neil Flowers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2016, at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, Orangeburg, SC and all other times at the residence.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Justin Wingard, Kyle Smith, Eric Smith, Joseph Wingard, III, Josh Wingard, Joshua Briggs, and Bryan Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Bolentown Volunteer Fire Department.
Ernest was born November 3, 1936, in Orangeburg, a son of the late Ernest R. Bair and the late Lizzie Binnicker Bair. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and served on many committees including two building committees, Lebanon Agape' Sunday School Class and Lebanon United Methodist Men. He was a Clemson fan and a member of IPTAY for over 40 years. He was a member of Edisto Young Farmers and a charter member of the Bolentown Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the Orangeburg County Fire Advisory Board, a member of BPOE Elks Lodge #897 and served in the United States Army. He was employed by Walker Oil Company. He worked in bridge construction for many years, and was Vice-President of Copeland Construction Company and retired from the Public Works Department of Orangeburg County. Ernest was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed attending Clemson football games with his family and loved following the Tigers. He enjoyed spending time at Jameson Farms with his nephews, Ray, William and Tommy.
In addition to his wife, Ernest is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth B. Walker (Jess) of Bamberg, SC and Renee B. Wingard (Joseph) of Orangeburg, SC; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Briggs (Joshua), Justin Wingard, Anna Wingard, Eric Smith, Kyle Smith, Joseph Wingard, III (Suzanne), Josh Wingard, Lori Knight (Bryan) and Terri Shultz (Scott); six great-grandchildren; a sister, Jackie B. Davis; a sister-in-law, Brenda Bair; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Mildred B. Jameson and a brother, Charles Ray Bair.
