Louis Calvin Carlock
September 10, 1927 - February 8, 2009

Louis Calvin Carlock entered into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 8, 2009, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 81. He was born on September 10, 1927, in the Sand Hill Community near Des Arc, Arkansas. He was one of seven children born into the family of Richard and Martha Jane Carlock. Shortly after his birth the family moved to the Pleasant Valley Community or Swamp Poodle as known by most area residents. Louis received his education in the Brinkley school system and later served in the United States Army. After military service he lived a few years in the Chicago area, returning to Brinkley in 1965. He worked for the Ark Highway Department in the mid 70's then moved to Little Rock. During his years there, Louis was an active member of the Jacksonville Assembly of God Church. His wife, Dorothy passed away in 2002. After serving many years as security guard for the Sysco Food Industries, Louis retired in 2006 and made the move back to his home stomping grounds of Brinkley. Family was very important to Louis and being with everyone at family gatherings was a great highlight of his day. He especially enjoyed going camping and squirrel hunting with his nephew, Jack Strickland and his wife, Betty. When someone mentioned fishing, they might just find Louis sitting in the vehicle ready to go with them. Immediate family left to mourn his passing are his Son, Jeffrey and Cheryl Carlock of Dallas, Texas, two daughters: Stella and Tommy Tucker of Des Arc, Prairie, Arkansas, & Jacquelyn and Frank Morgan of Memphis, Tennessee, Six Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Martha Ashcraft Carlock, brothers, Roscoe Carlock, Clinton Carlock, Albert Carlock, sisters, Alma Strickland, Recie Settle and Ellen Cagle.
