POMPANO BEACH, FL - Rachel Louisa (nee Young) Dancer, 83, of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013, in her home.
Rachel was born in Woodbury, NJ, and would have been 84 on May 21. She grew up in Paulsboro, NJ.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pompano Beach, 2331 N.E. 26th Avenue.
Rachel was also was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. She was a 60- year member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 157.
Rachel loved her animals. She adored her cat, Gracie, who remained by her side and without a doubt she had a lifelong love for horses. She was proud to have owned three Triple Crown winners in harness racing and three Little Brown Jug winners. Rachel was an active member of the United States Trotting Association and a member of their Hall of Fame. You could often find Rachel telling her family and friends about her fond memories of her favorite moments at the farm with her horses.
Rachel Louisa Young was married to Stanley Franklin Dancer on Sept. 21, 1947, in Hornerstown Baptist Church, Cream Ridge, NJ. She was proud of her four children and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include her children, Ronald Stanley Dancer, 63, of New Egypt, NJ, and her daughter-in-law, Brenda Dancer; Susan Dancer Moyher, 62, of Hendersonville, NC, and her son-in-law, David K. Moyher; Stanley Richard Dancer, 54, of Pompano Beach, FL, and Shaldonna Lee Dancer-Chaisson, 48, and her son-in-law, Jeffrey Chaisson, of Port St. Lucie, FL.
In addition, she is survived by her nine grandchildren, Rachel E. Seeber and her husband, Kevin Conine, of Queensbury, NY; Kenneth H. Seeber, of Malta, NY; Rebecca Lyn Damuth, of Hendersonville, NC, and Christopher Seeber, of New York City, NY; Ceanna Lee Chaisson, Trotter Scott Chaisson, and Delaney Dancer, of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Kristy Sorensen and her husband, Tim Sorensen, of Georgia, and Ronald S. Dancer Jr. and his wife, Sherry Dancer, of Florida.
Rachel is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Dylan Seeber, son of Rachel Seeber, Alexis Lyn Becnel and Paige Marie Damuth, daughter of Rebecca Damuth, Michael and Brianna Grace, son and daughter of Kristy and Tim Sorensen, and Bryce Dancer, son of Sherri and Ronald Stanley Dancer Jr.
Funeral services and burial in Zion Cemetery, New Egypt, NJ, are private at the convenience of the family, and under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt
