~OBITUARY OF LEE R. BAKER

Lee R. BAKER was born to Victor and Nellie BAKER in Arlington, Kansas, on March 14th, 1925. Lee was the 7th of 8 children. Lee went to meet his Lord on February 4th, 2015.

Lee graduated from Amarillo High School where he excelled as a student and athlete. In Amarillo he met N. Jeanne LAMB, his wife of 60 years. Lee attended Amarillo College before serving 2 years in the U. S. Navy. In 1951, Lee earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Texas Christian University.

In 1954, Lee married Jeanne and expanded his family with 3 children, Gwyn, Cindy and Craig. Lee excelled as circulation manager for newspapers in North Carolina, New Mexico and Texas. Lee's career flourished and so did his family by 4 more, Vickie, Scott, Buddy and Gene.

Lee's passion for circulation numbers led him to Chicago's Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC). Lee worked for ABC for 35+ years advancing to Vice President. ABC required Lee to move to Chicago where he found a home in Wheaton, Illinois, a perfect town to raise his family. That's exactly what Lee did for the next 35 years. And what he was most proud of - raising of a great family. Lee was a member of Geneva Road Baptist Church and Wheaton Masonic Lodge and Knights Templar, Boy Scout Master and little league baseball coach to all his sons. Lee taught his children to be respectful, a strong work ethic, to be independent and how to "show up."

In 1990, Lee retired and moved with Jeanne and Vickie to Arizona - First to Cave Creek and then to Sun City where Lee became a member of Belleview Heights Baptist Church and volunteer in The Civitan Group. Lee also accepted the responsibility of caring for 3 of his older sisters who were living in Arizona. In 2006, Lee lost his beloved Jeanne to cancer. In 2014, Lee moved back to Texas to be closer to his children and 4 months later lost his battle with Parkinson's.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents and all siblings and by his wife, N. Jeanne (Lamb) BAKER; and daughter, Gwyn Ann (Baker) Ruble McLAUGHLIN. He is survived by his daughters: Cynthia (Baker) SCHUYLER of Geneva, Illinois; and Vickie Lee BAKER of Divide, Colorado; sons: Craig BAKER of Divide, Colorado; James Scott BAKER of St. Petersburg, Florida; Lee R. "Buddy" BAKER of Mansfield, Texas; and Gene David BAKER of Plano, Texas; seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Services to be held in April in Perryton and Amarillo, Texas. In lieu of flowers Lee's request would be to donate to the Special Olympics (specialolympics.org).
