FRANKLIN - " Gino C. Chiodetti , 89, died Tuesday at Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
He was the husband of Joanne M. (St. Denis) Chiodetti for 60 years.
Mr. Chiodetti was a lifelong resident of Franklin and educated in the Franklin Public Schools. He graduated from the former Peterson Engineering School in Boston.
During World War II, he served in the Army Air Forces, where he attained the rank of sergeant. He was stationed in central Europe and fought in battles in the Rhineland, Rome-Arno, northern Apennines, southern France and many air-combat missions in the Balkans.
He was awarded the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in September 1945.
A licensed engineer, he worked in several power plants and retired as a pipe fitter with Boston Local 537 Pipefitters Union.
He and his wife were winter residents of Ft. Pierce, Fla., for many years.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Thomas G. Chiodetti of Falmouth and Daniel P. Chiodetti of Sturbridge; a daughter, Dr. Lynda Chiodetti of Bethesda, Md.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin.
A funeral with military honors will begin at 10:15 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home and proceed to an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square, Franklin.
