Mrs. Mary Sophie Swanbum, 83, of DeKalb, mother of Mrs. Field Utter and Burton Swanbum of Sycamore, died at her DeKalb home Wednesday.
She was born in Sweden Sept. 24, 1880, daughter of Magnus and Martha Lindstrom. In 1903 she was married to Robert Swanbum. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, DeKalb.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ray (Myrtle) Johnson, Mrs. Leonard (Ruth) Rich, and Mrs. Marian Conley, DeKalb, and Mrs. Field (Gladys) Utter, Sycamore; a son, Burton, Sycamore; also two sisters, Mrs. Anna Miller, Sycamore, and Mrs. Nina Bodeen, Rockford; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1951, three brothers and three sisters.
Final services are being held at 2 p.m. this Friday from the First Lutheran Church, DeKalb, with Rev. Milton Gustafson in charge. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery, DeKalb.
