Michael Aguiar, 32, of Halaula, was gathering the shellfish with a friend near a cliff about 7:30 A.M. when a large wave knocked him into the water, police said. The friend told police that Aguiar was clinging to rocks in the water when another wave struck him and he disappeared.
Aguiar's body was recovered after a search by fire rescue team.
He was da son of Geraldine & David "Kawila" Aguiar Jr.
Survived by a spouse & a son.
