LEWIS MOORE McSWAIN IS CLAIMED BY DEATH
90 Year Old Cherokee Town ship Resident Dies; Final Rite's Held.
Blacksburg, July 23
Lewis Moore McSwain, 90 year-old retired farmer of King Creek, route 1, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. G. Carroll, who lives in the Antioch community near here, Monday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock after an illness extending over two years.
Mr. McSwain was a native and life-long resident of this section. He had been a member of the Antioch Baptist church since he was 16 years old.
Mr. McSwain was a son of the late Rev. Lewis H. McSwain and the late Mrs. Mary Hamrick McSwain. both of Cleveland county.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Antioch church. The pastor, the Rev. W. A. Hoffman, was the officiating minister. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery with the Shuford-Hatcher Company, morticians, in charge.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mr. McSwain is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Carroll, and four sons, Oliver McSwain of Cherryville, N. C; G. P. McSwain of Blacksburg; Lewis McSwain of York, and H. K. McSwain of Shelby, N. C. He is also survived by 40 grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

FRIENDS CELEBRATE McSWAIN'S BIRTHDAY
Kings Creek Citizen, 87 Years of Age, Honored on His Anniversary.
Kings Creek, June 24.
Friends and relatives of L. M. MeSwain gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Carroll Sunday to celebrate Mr. McSwain's 87th birthday. A large crowd attended. A boutiful dinner was spread on the table in the front yard under the shade trees.
