Mrs. J. R. Ellis Taken By Stroke

Mrs. Gerene Colon Ellis, 65, wife of J. Roy Ellis, died at the Austin convalescent home in Orwell, Friday morning, where she had been a patient less than a week. On the previous Monday she had suffered a severe stroke at her home in the Lehigh district from which she failed to recover.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, with Rev. James N. Pauley officiating. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery on Rome street road.

Her only survivors besides her husband were two nieces.

Mrs. Ellis was born in Henderson, Oct. 23, 1883, the daughter of Theodore and Ada Williams Colon, but had spent most of her life in Pulaski and vicinity. Both Mrs. Ellis and her husband had been active in Dairymen's League organizations in Oswego county Sub District 12A and local units. She was press correspondent and associate delegate, for several years, and highly influential in the organizing of the Young Co-ops.

She was also a member of the Pulaski Methodist church and senior choir, of Chapter. No. 159 of the O.E.S. and a member of the Pulaski Grange.
