Janice Akin 88, of Denison, Texas passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She was born on January 15, 1928 in Bushnell, Oklahoma to the late Johnnie Franklin Corbin and Myrtle Dodd Corbin. Janice was raised in the Bushnell and Calera, Oklahoma area and later graduated from the Calera High School in 1945. She worked at the Leonard Florist and the Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma. Janice married Bobby Don Akin on April 2, 1954 in Kingston and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2003. She worked as a secretary for her husband who was a superintendent at several small schools in Oklahoma. Janice was a member of the County Home Extensions and taught several Sunday School Classes and Youth Groups. She was a long time member of the Texoma Baptist Church and the Parkside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. Janice enjoyed reading, playing dominos and cooking. She was also a big Texas Ranger fan, loved family get-togethers and being with her grandkids.

She is survived by:

Don Akin and wife Cindy, Del City, Oklahoma

Mary Smith and husband Joe, Denison, Texas

Joy Norman and husband Stan, Shawnee, Oklahoma

Emily Lee and husband Mike, Davis, Oklahoma

12 Grandchildren 6 Great Grandchildren

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother; Johnnie Corbin, 1 sister; Louise Riddle, 1 grandson; Corbin Jim-Bob Akin.
