Various censuses indicate that she was born about 1861. Date and place of death are from Greenwood Cemetery records and the New York Death Index, 1852-1956.
Etta has been found only in the 1870 US census, the 1875 New York State census, and the New York Death Index. Both of those census records are from before her marriage. She has not been identified in any census under her married name. Her husband's name is, therefore, not presently known.
Father was Elvin A Alvers. For a discussion of Edwin, please see the memorial for Etta's mother.
Gladys Wood/Reed --
The entry in the 1905 New York State census for Etta's sister, Alice R (Alvers) Reed, includes Gladys Wood, who was identified as the niece of Alice and her husband, Flavius G Reed. Gladys is shown as three years old, or having been born about 1902. The 1910 US census adds the information that Gladys was born in USA, NY, and still identifies her as a niece, but shows her as Gladys Reed. She is shown with Flavius and Alice in the 1915 New York State census and the 1920 US census. She is consistently identified as their niece. Gladys has not been identified in any records after the 1920 US census.
In the absence of any other members of either the Reed or Alvers family with the surname Wood, it appears most likely that Gladys was the daughter of Etta (Alvers) Wood.
